Dr. Cheryl Mitchell grew up in Hadley, Michigan. From the time she was old enough to go to the dentist, she knew she wanted to be a dentist! Dr. Cheryl attended the University of Michigan-Flint and Lake Superior State University for her undergraduate studies. Throughout high school and college she had the opportunity to work at her mother's Montessori preschool as a teacher's aide, which fostered her love of children. After graduating from the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry in 1998, she relocated to the Higgins Lake area.

In 2004 she married Roscommon native, Tim McCarthy. Together they share four children. Dylan 11, Carter, 9, Brandon 7, and one year old Princess Gracie keep their parents busy with sports and school activities. The change of seasons provides a multitude of activities for the family. Summertime will find them boating on beautiful Higgins Lake, camping, or gardening. Snowshoeing, sledding, and riding snowmobiles are their favorite winter pastimes. Riding quads is fun any time of the year. Dr. Cheryl believes an active and healthy lifestyle is the key to maintaining fitness.

In 2009, Dr. Cheryl along with her patients help established the Kelly Dunmire Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of one of the office's beloved dental hygienists. The scholarship fund is maintained through the Roscommon County Community Fund, and awards a scholarship each year to a female Roscommon high school senior who is entering the dental or medical field.

Dr. Cheryl is a member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. Along with her staff, she attends many continuing education classes a year to give her patients the latest dentistry has to offer.

Dr. Cheryl is the only dentist in the area certified in Six Month Smiles, Clear Correct, Invisalign, Lumineers, Zoom! 1 hour whitening, Botox, Dermal Fillers, NTI Migrane Treatment, Vizilite Oral Caner Screening, and the Diagnodent (Laser Cavity Detector).
